Bruno watched from the porch.
As the ambulance doors closed, he lifted his head and howled.
But the real suspect was still somewhere nearby.
Minutes later, Bruno suddenly turned toward the side yard.
His whole posture changed.
His ears rose.
His body stiffened.
Mitchell recognized the look immediately.
The police dog was back at work.
“Find him.”
Bruno raced around the house.
Through the weeds.
Into the backyard.
Straight toward an old garden shed.
He stopped at the door.
Nose pressed low.
Completely still.
Mitchell knew.
The fugitive was inside.
