Why Does Getting Gas Feel Like a Test I’m Supposed to Already Know the Answer To?

I genuinely thought I understood the gas situation with my car until the dealership told me to start putting premium in it.

That’s what threw me off.

Because my car literally says:

REGULAR 87 OCTANE

Right there.

Inside the fuel door.

Not hidden.

Not written in microscopic letters.

Just sitting there like the car itself is answering the question for me.

So in my head, that should have been the end of the conversation.
